February 24th- It's World's Bartender Day!

It's crazy to think that when I started behind the bar at 21, it was just a temporary way to make money. I had hopes to be on the big screen entertaining people. Bartending was just a skill that I could take anywhere in case I had to pick up and move to get "discovered". :P Now I'm (𝚊𝚐𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚍𝚊𝚌𝚝𝚎𝚍) and I'm still in the game!

The heights that this skill has taken me has blown my mind. I have been able to travel all over the country and get to bust out the passport, seeing amazing bars, experiencing great cocktails and spirits, and meeting some the most remarkable people on the way. I'm placing bets that if you are seeing this we made each other drinks at some point or at least brushed elbows with a cocktail in hand (or we should someday).

Being a bartender is fun and can be glamorous, but it's an extension of hospitality! We do this for our guests- You! We listen to your stories, look our for your safety, we keep your secrets. Making you drinks is a plus but I want you to enjoy your time at my establishment with hopes you come back!

Even though the industry took a hard hit from Covid, I'm thankful that I am able to still do what I love on a different level. I'm able to virtually interact with those who want to learn. I may not be on the BIG screen amusing people but I find myself on more and more COMPUTER screens entertaining others out here with my antics.

So to that, "Cheers" to my fellow bartenders, my mentors, and my regulars. You're part of my motivation, my passion, and my future. I raise my drink in your honor and look forward to the sound of our glasses clinking one day soon. Happy World Bartender Day!

Cheers,

Nigal Vann
